The laguna is surrounded by several snow peaks in a region that is considered to be is one of the most popular areas for climbing in all of Peru. The high concentration of dissolved lime gives the water of Laguna Parón a turquoise color.
It is a popular day hike for travelers in the region and is often reached by mountain bike. If desired, it is possible to camp on the west and east shores of Laguna Parón. From the east end, an easy walk gives way to a beautiful view of Mount Artesonraju (the Paramount Picture’s logo).
